EducationDr. Jenna Mahoney earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento, and her MSW from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has been a school social worker in Champaign County for the past eight years. Jenna received her Professional Educators License with an endorsement in School Social Work in 2015 and her LCSW in 2019. Jenna earned her PhD at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2025.ResearchDr. Mahoney’s research concentrates on enhancing self-efficacy among early-career school social workers and teachers to guarantee that all P–12 students gain access to high-quality mental health support and academic instruction. She exhibits a particular interest in the role of school social workers within multi-tiered systems of support and in how their expertise can be utilized at the district level to promote social, emotional, and behavioral learning. Her work underscores the significance of cultivating social-emotional learning among both students and educators, acknowledging that students flourish when they experience a sense of belonging within their school environments.
